Jonathan Devillet Spadois was convicted of giving two teenagers AIDS in Belgium. He also exposed a third girl, but she was lucky enough to avoid infection. His attorney eventually asked that his conviction be overturned on the grounds that he transmitted HIV and not AIDS to his victims. He also claimed that his client forgot that the disease was transmittable when he exposed his victims to his HIV. It is not clear what ever happened with that argument, but it probably failed.
He had been sentenced to just five years in prison.
