Diamanda Galas is a Hepatitis C sufferer best known for the dark and gloomy music she creates as both a pianist and singer. Galas states on her website that she contracted Hepatitis C form sharing needles, but it doesn't say when. Judging by the timeline of the article on her website it looks like she probably got it sometime during the 1980s.
She also has a tattoo that says "We are all HIV+" even though she does not really have HIV. She got the tattoo shortly before her brother died of AIDS as some kind of protest symbol against the treatment of people with AIDS in those days.
Diamanda's music music combined with her goth like appearance makes for an odd show. Her songs as seen in the music video below are full of darkness with piano tunes like something out of an old Dracula vampire movie with lyrics laced with shrieking screams.
Her appearance with the extremely pale skin made whiter by makeup combines with the dark bags around her eyes and flat long black hair to make her a Facedouble for Marylin Manson if he were a real woman.
This video has been updated to include a 1992 interview she gave CBC and the source has been updated.
