Matthew E. Atha, a 43-year-old HIV positive man from Springfield, is in Clark County Jail Friday after Springfield police say he raped a 12-year-old girl he knows. He was also charged with felonious assault. The girl told police that this has been going on for two years, most recently on April 9.

Police reports detailed an 11-year-old girl's story of rape, allegedly at his hands.
Detectives said they investigated her story and found DNA evidence to support her claims.
The child told police that she had been forced to perform sex acts on Atha for the past two years at an address in Springfield.
To make the case even worse, the man is allegedly carrying a deadly disease. Police said he is H-I-V positive.
He lives on 1500 block of Northgate Road in Springfield. He is a physician who practiced in Xexnia, OH.
