Paul Lekakis proved that people were too coked out back in the 80's to care what they were listening to when he hit it big with the song "Boom Boom (Lets go back to my room)" in 1987. After his HIV diagnosis in 1989 he went on to play HIV positive characters in several films and appeared on the cover of POZ magazine.
According to his MySpace page his 20 year anniversary remix of "Boom Boom (Lets go back to my room)" put him back on the Billboard Charts proving that there are still people too coked out to care what they are listening to.
